CSX Pedestrian Bridge Interpretive Signage
- Project Name: CSX Pedestrian Bridge Interpretive Signage
- Project Client: PennDOT District 6-0
- Project Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
In downtown Philadelphia, construction of a pedestrian bridge was planned over the CSX Railroad tracks along the Schuylkill River, but the plans raised concerns about the disturbance of potentially historic wharves. It was determined that a historical research study and interpretive panels detailing the site’s unique past would provide a meaningful alternative to more intrusive forms of research and documentation. Working closely with various consulting parties, including Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, A.D. Marble provided graphic design and historical research to create two interpretive panels to be displayed on and near the bridge. These panels educate visitors about historical industries along the Schuylkill River. The signs were designed according to guidelines established by Philadelphia Parks and Recreation for interpretive panels throughout the city.
