Villanova Station Improvements
- Project Name: Villanova Station Improvements
- Project Client: SEPTA
- Project Location: Radnor Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
This project involved improvements to the existing Villanova Station to meet current ADA accessibility requirements. Specifically, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) constructed a new pedestrian underpass, including new ramps and staircases, to replace the existing inadequate underpass during Phase 1 of the project. In addition, a Phase 2 was completed to raise the inbound and outbound platforms, the existing canopies, and make improvements to the Station building. A.D. Marble completed all cultural resource investigations related to archeology and above ground structures. A.D. Marble conducted multiple consulting party meetings, a Historic Survey Form on the now eligible Villanova Station, as well as an assessment of effect on the Villanova University Historic District (eligible for listing in the National Register), the railroad, and the station. This information was used to complete a Categorical Exclusion Evaluation (CEE) and approve the engineering and architectural improvement designs for construction.
