PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PHL)
RUNWAY 17-35 EXTENSION AND CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (CEP) ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENTS (EIS)
FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) AND THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

The project is located in the City of Philadelphia and Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The 17 35 Runway Extension project is an intermediate redesign project to address delay reduction at PHL by extending the length of Runway 17-35 to accommodate regional jet aircraft. The Capacity Enhancement Program project is a major airfield redevelopment project to enhance airport capacity and reduce flight delays for the long term. Both projects require the preparation of an EIS. A.D. Marble & Company, as a subconsultant to Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc., is responsible for all data collection, analyses, and document preparation for natural and cultural resources for both EIS documents. A.D. Marble & Company’s responsibilities include: project scoping; project management; historic, architectural, and archaeological resources; biotic communities; endangered and threatened species; wetlands; floodplains; and coastal zone management and coastal barriers. The major studies include the identification of hundreds of historic structures in a large Area of Potential Effect. Since the project is located along a freshwater-tidal section of the Delaware River, large areas of wetland are present and numerous threatened and endangered plants, amphibians, fish, and birds are being studied.
