NEW JERSEY TRANSIT
The project involves the construction of a new two-track rail tunnel
under the Hudson River from New Jersey to New York Penn Station.
Tasks included cultural resource studies and document preparation
for a Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The project tasks include
preparation of an Archaeological Predictive Model, APE Report, Project
Initiation Package, survey and evaluation of hundreds of resources,
agency coordination, and public involvement. The project will involve
the formation of GIS data layers for cultural resources from Newark,
Penn Station, the Meadowlands, and into Manhattan. Research has
involved visiting public and private repositories in both New Jersey
and New York, accessing paper and GIS data files at both SHPO offices,
and coordinating with the New York City Landmarks Commission. Planned
tasks also include the archaeological investigation of up to two
archaeological sites within the project’s right-of-way.
A.D. Marble & Company plans to do work throughout Hudson County,
New Jersey. Specific locations include the City of Jersey City,
the Town of Kearny, the Township of North Bergen, and the Town of
Secaucus.
